CMS strongly encourages nursing homes to report staff and resident vaccination rates through the CDC’s Vaccine Reporting Module in the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) on a weekly basis. Access the module at //www.cdc.gov/nhsn/ltc/weekly-covid-vac/index.html.
As the Long-term Care Pharmacy Partnership Program sunsets, the NHSN will serve as the primary source for tracking vaccination rates. These data are critical to inform product distribution planning as well as revisions to guidance on routine testing and indoor visitation. Additionally, these data will help CMS monitor uptake of the vaccine among residents and staff nationwide.

The national nursing home associations, American Health Care Association and Leading Age, have joined forces to set a goal of 75% of all nursing home staff to be vaccinated by June 30, 2021.
