MDS 3.0 Validation Utility

MDS 3.0 Validation Utility Tool Version 1.8.0 Now Available

CMS has released version 1.8.0 of the MDS 3.0 VUT, which is a software utility that can be used by MDS software developers to validate MDS 3.0 submission files in XML format. The tool enforces the edits that are mapped to the MDS 3.0 items, as published in the MDS 3.0 specifications. The current release now supports version 1.15.0 of the MDS 3.0 Data Specifications, while continuing to support prior versions for older assessments. In addition, a new command-line parameter, NOSETUP, was added to allow users of listener mode to bypass the VUT UI screen (using the parameters established in VUT.XML).

Please note that there are a few edits that the VUT cannot support, because they are edits against existing Assessment Submission and Processing (ASAP) system data. Since the VUT does not interface with ASAP, it cannot confirm those edits. The VUT also does not currently interface with the Resource Utilization Group (RUG) III and IV DLLs and cannot recalculate and confirm that RUG values are correct.

ADL-Optima Rehab Interface for MDS Rehab Minutes and Notes

In addition to importing the Progress Notes from Optima Rehab, facilities can import and auto-populate the MDS Rehabilitation Minutes directly into the MDS Assessments. Certification testing has been completed for the Optima Rehab MDS Rehab minutes import functions. Importing the Rehab saves time by accurately calculating the minutes from the Rehab Treatment Sheets stored on the Optima Rehab.

The import function is available in the ADL-EMR user interface and supports both Rehabilitation Vendors and In-house Rehabilitation departments.

Several integration projects are nearing completion to enable access to data from their Contracted Service providers. This is part of ADL’s ongoing commitment to provide seamless integrations between ADL Data’s EMR/EHR solutions and major software used by Vendor Service Providers.

Contact Ulysses Fleming (914-591-1800) for information on enabling these features.

MDS 3.0 Released to Beta Testing

MDS 3.0 has been released to several clients for Beta testing. The interfaces and Auto-Fill functions are currently being developed for Pharmacy Prescriptions (Orders), Rehabilitation Treatments, Assessments and CNA-Touch, to be released in the next two weeks.

The MDS 3.0 application continues to support the older MDS 2.0 history records and they can be viewed by the MDS 3.0 application. Thus there will continue to be a continuous record of the patient’s MDS assessments.

Web Seminars will be scheduled to introduce the application.
